Lite-On announces a new generation external slim DVD writers. The Lite-On eSAU208-111 Slim External DVD Writer is a full featured, USB-powered, 8X slim DVD writer. A perfect solution for those users who are looking for a compact, stylish and portable DVD writer.
Mobility is an important aspect of the Lite-On eSAU208-111 Slim External DVD Writer. The drive can be powered through a USB connection instead of a traditional power adapter, so the mobile user no longer needs to rely on a power socket to operate the DVD writer. The drive will consume its power directly from the notebook through the USB cable.
Writing speeds of the Lite-On eSAU208-111 Slim External DVD Writer are 8X for DVD±R, 6X for DVD±R DL and DVD-RW, 5X for DVD-RAM and 24X for CD-R(W). Reading speeds are 8X for DVD-ROM and 24X for CD-ROM. For some notebooks where lower energy consumption is required, the eSAU208-111 provides a "power saving mode". Bought this to work with my netbook since the netbook does not have a DVD drive. Does everything I expected it to do. Have not tested the light scribe option yet, so I don't know how well it works, but it serves the purpose I bought it for.

Really zippy little external drive! Don't try to move, bump or touch the unit whilst it is burning a DVD or you'll get a coaster! LightScribe function takes almost as long as burning the medium, but I really don't care about LightScribe function. Buy it, you'll like it!
