The Iomega® StorCenter™ ix4-200d NAS Server offers content sharing with advanced security, and is ideal for small office, remote office or home networks. Based on enterprise-class EMC® storage technology, the Iomega 34549 StorCenter ix4-200d NAS Server provides dual GbE connections, easy file sharing, iSCSI block access, and multiple RAID configurations for optimized data protection.
Business users will appreciate the robust data protection features such as UPS support, print serving, folder quotas, Rsync device-to-device replication, and user replaceable drives for business continuity and disaster recovery. The easy-to-use interface, Active Directory support, and remote access provide no-hassle management. From a consumer to even a pro-sumer standpoint it does everything it says. Speedy and packed with features. Worked great right out of the box. A few more advanced problems, though. Its compatibility with TimeMachine with Lion is broken for example.

I am sure this would be a great product for people that work with servers on a regular basis. It falls short for home users or those without an IT degree. It needs a better setup wizard to assist those not fluent in servers. It does what I need and does it quickly, but it took me almost a week to get it completely set up for our office.

Despite all the reviews on the Internet and all the claims about Active Directory Service Management, it does not work with 2008 SR2 Server (see from IOMEGA's forum, search on End Of Pipe Error). If it really did work with our ADS, I think I would love this product. I might actually buy one for home use some day, but I cannot use it in our business environment due to the ADS issue. It would be nice if IOMEGA would put this little bit of info in their specs!

From my experience of using this 4TB NAS, the real pluses are solid built, simple to use, easy organization and a great money saver. All the file formats are compatible with it. Also, the multiple printer setup and decent storage available can be just everything we need from this secured server.
