Good Deal
I have had the older version of this Laser Jet and have had pretty good results with HP. I agree the color cartridges are little on the expensive side, but it prints out the color beautifully. I have had trouble with the
Don't waste your money
I've had HP printers for the last 15 years. It was a natural to purchase an HP when my last one died after 12 years. It was a Laserjet. The major issue I've had with this printer is the fact that it continually reads low memory and will not print out. It is completely useless printing out of USPS for some shipping labels. These aren't even a graphics intensive apps. Forget about some Photoshop files, this printer is useless. In my 12 years with my last printer which had a quarter of the memory, I never ran into a out of memory error.

Simple setup and great performance. Speedy and great clarity.
Known Defects and Poor Warranty
Bought this printer and it seemed perfect until I tried tray one, e.g. the bypass tray. It generates false tray 2 paper jams. This is a known and documented model defect. For a while hp denied the defect and suggested return them to the dealer, take them to a local authorized repair facility or ship them at consumer expense to California for repairs, or for only MORE money you can get somebody elses repaired printer refurbished to like new. Where do you live? No repair facilities within 500 miles of me. Had to ship at my expense to California for repairs, cost almost as much as the printer. Read the forums, web and more. False tray 2 jams. Spend your money on another model or just donate it to hp.
Nice printer so far
So far the printer works great. Bit noisy when starting up and printing but quiets down. Very fast. At first colors were out of registration but after calibration looks fine.
